Tales from the Road Volume 3
By now, many of you have received your Kickstarter reward packages. I am happy to say that as of tomorrow, all of the packages I have addresses for will be dropped at the PO.
I just wanted to thank you all for your patience during this campaign. I went into this one thinking it would be an easy one and I couldn't have been more wrong.
I am forever grateful to the countless number of wrestlers that have allowed me to collaborate with them on TFR but the reality is that I'm not anyone's priority (nor should I be). People collaborate with me out of respect for what I do or because they dig comics. But sometimes things happen in their personal or professional lives that necessitates them having to drop out.
I could write an entire book on the incredible stories we've lost out on...believe me.
And I had some personal turmoil of my own...losing my dog wrecked me for a minute. That's a wound that I don't think is ever going to heal.
Combine all that with some unfortunate shipping delays by Fedex and here we are!
But ultimately, I think we delivered the strongest collection of stories to date and I'm extremely happy with the final product. I hope you all love it when you get a chance to dig into it.
In the meantime….a lot has happened.
King of Wrestling Comics Championship Belt
The fine folks at Top Rope Belts created a stunning championship belt for me to bring to conventions to show off their superior craftsmanship. TRB has made some of the most iconic and innovative belts in history including the Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods title.
I’ll have this belt at all my future convention appearances. Right now we’ve just been having fun with it but I haven’t even scratched the surface of what we are going to do with that belt!
WrestleCon
If you’re headed to WrestleCon, I will be there. We’ll have Danhausen on Friday and Powerhouse Hobbs on Sat and Sun.
We’ll also have an exclusive Danhausen variant, limited to 100 available at the show, so get there early!
Starrcast Australia
In one of the coolest honors of my career, I was asked by the fine folks at Starrcast to be a guest at Starrcast Downunder in Australia!
I am stoked to be making my first trip to Australia and I’ll be bringing as much Headlocked stuff as my luggage can carry!
I’ll be leaving directly from Philadelphia on the Monday morning after WrestleMania, so its going to be a long stretch for me but I feel nothing but excitement!
Triple Feature
If you're attending GalaxyCon, we dropped a very special Triple Feature featuring stories from Mick Foley, Nic Nemeth, and Leva Bates in Richmond last week. It will be available at all GalaxyCon events and will be given out free to all GalaxyCon VIPs for the rest of the year. It features a dope cover by Doug Hills and a smoking Days of Future Past homage on the back cover by Bryan SIlverbax!
It sold out at my table last weekend, so it looks like a hot one!
Conventions
It’s been a crazy year so far. We debuted in Albuquerque and Alaska and I just finished a four week stint on the road with StocktonCon, Emerald City, Lexington, and GalaxyCon Richmond. I am thrilled not to be getting on a plane this week.
As for shows I am booked for through May:
WrestleCo, Starrcast Australia, Maine Comic and Toy Con, C2E2, Jerry Lawler Tribute show in Evansville, GalaxyCon OKC, and Des Moines Comic Con.
Hope to see you out there!
What's Next?
Tales From The Road - With PWCrate switching to bi-monthly, it's slowed down our output a bit. We released one of my favorite collabs with Trish Stratus in November and an all-new short story with Leva Bates in the Triple Feature. We have a book in the July crate and I am hoping for another one towards the end of the year.
My goal is to have TFR Volume 4 out by the end of the year. We have enough stories right now to get through 4 and 5 with some exclusive content added. I've had some really interesting and unexpected discussions with some new and exciting collaborators.
Beyond that, we have a ton of stuff in production right now (yes, that means Vol 5 of Headlocked. Believe me, I am just as desperate to get that out as some of you are to read it) I signed a contract for the biggest project in the history of Headlocked Comics and it’s going to blow your mind when we announce. In addition, we are developing two new titles that I am excited about…one is an expansion of a previous TFR story and another is a brand new concept.
Final Thoughts
I realize I haven’t been the best at updating this and I definitely need that to change. The last few months have been the absolute busiest of my life. I still work my regular job - 7 days a week, no less - on top of the busiest production and show schedule I’ve ever attempted.
I am making a concerted effort to carve out some time for things I have let get away from me…this being one of them.
But I feel like we’re starting to see some real progress…more cons are reaching out to me to be a guest, getting invited to Australia, and GalaxyCon thinking enough of TFR to include it in its VIP bags are a sign that what we’re doing is catching. And there’s so much more I can’t even talk about yet!!!!
I appreciate everyone who has help support this dream of mine to make wrestling comics. I hope you stick around because its about to get real good!
